Hi. I noticed that CCCheshire (http://thelongdark.gamepedia.com/UserProfile:CCCheshire) has been uploading a bunch of pics lately for clothing. The pics are of great quality, but I am unable to replace them with a JPG version of the exact same quality, but for 90% reduction in file size. What would you recommend that I do for this?

Because the files uploaded are in .PNG format, not .JPG format. Merely changing the format reduces the file size by 75%. Then, I further reduce the file size by using IrFanView Image Compression algorithm to achieve up to 90% file size reduction.
PNG format is designed for editing of photos in a substantial manner, usually, involving Adobe Photoshop or Windows Paint programs. PNG is uncompressed. For everything else, there's JPG/JPEG file format. JPG is compressed.
The wiki won't let me replace the files because they're in a different format. This is either a permissions issue or something that may be built-in to the version of Wiki that this Wiki is running on. The only way around this is to get... messy. So, I'd have to Upload Another file, then replace that file in all areas where said file is already being used up at, then delete the previous file - and hoping for no badlinks/redlinks to be created from this.
That's why I'm asking you first.
I still don't see why the images must be in a .JPG format except that you want it that way. But no, if you insist on that format there's no easy way to replace all the files.
It's to reduce the file size of the image. This is significant in regards to 2 situations: 1) Reduces page load time and 2) Reduces impact on the servers that host this Wiki.
If your servers aren't encountering any issues or don't need to be upgraded any time soon, then this won't be such an issue for right now. Also, if nobody is experiencing slow load times (or running on Dial-Up), then this also won't be an issue. I just like to do these things in preparation of said issues that almost always arise for most Wikis of this type.
Thanks for the response (if you leave it on my Profile, then I get a Notification of it, but if you leave here, then I don't, for some reason). I've decided not to bother with the "messy" route due to no immediate problems in regards to Page Load times and Server Strain. I'll leave the PNG images as-is until it becomes a problem. I've already contacted CCChesire in this regard and they have already begun uploading in JPG format (it's super easy to do).
OK. So, I compressed all of the images (except for those under 50 KB in size) that were JPG's. I also added the template: "Copyright: Fair Use Policy" to most of them, as well. I've reduced the usage from 18-ish MB down to 9.93 MB for 126 JPG image files (see https://thelongdark.gamepedia.com/Special:MediaStatistics).
Due to the size difference between PNG and JPG, I'm back to contemplating going the "messy" route for converting PNG files to JPG files - they're currently taking up 70 MB worth, as is. At 250 MB or so for all Media Files, then this Wiki will most likely start causing Server Strain for its Micro-Server that it has. Of course, that's just a hypothetical guess that varies based on a number of factors.
