Story Mode is one of the modes in the game The Long Dark. It is set to launch in August 2017. Story Mode will put players in the roles of one man and one woman, each fighting to survive the aftermath of a mysterious, apocalyptic event that has brought down modern connected civilization to the brink of collapse.
The game's first season will be released episodically and feature the talent of Jennifer Hale and David Hayter. Each episode is suppose to last between two and three hours. Players will alternate between Will Mackenzie and doctor Astrid Greenwood, each struggling to survive after the "First Flare" a geomagnetic flare that left the world in a post-apocalyptic state with no power and no electricity.
On August 1, 2017, the first two episodes of the five-part Wintermute series will be released.
